Recommended Posts

The best news is, the 1st three days are the roughest and then it usually is smooth sailing from there! You are almost there!!! Drink a lot of fluids and try to walk around some. Audree

On my second day, I experienced exactly what you are talking about. I'm sure I simply drank two sips too close together. It felt like a bubble that was stuck with a tight feeling in my chest. I began to worry, but I simply waiting an hour to drink anything, then drank Water (carefuuly) only for a while. Burps never felt so good! First few days, you have to watch the size and frequency of your sips.

...yes, the first week I it would take me 30 minutes to get a shot-glass full of Water down....

And be aware of the 'large swallow' we have been doing has to be retrained to 'small sip'.....

by the end of the first week I was able to sip a full cup of herbal tea before it got cold....that's a BIG step...

each day gets better and better....

I was helped a lot by Bandsters making suggestions on what to do,w hat to expect....

sip, walk, sip sip, walk walk walk....nap....sip sip....walk...sip sip...

Literally the first few days I used the little plastic cup (about 1/4 oz) they put the pills in, to DRINK from....

it took 12 hours to drink ONE liter of water....

learn the sipsipsip method...this will pass....

welcome to BandLand....

You got it wrong. It's

sip, walk, sip sip, walk walk walk...pee...pee....nap....sip sip....walk...sip...pee...pee sip......pee...pee...pee...pee

Haha, not only can you feel the Water moving down, but if you drink very cold Water, you'll feel the cold hitting you. Almost a year it this is still true for me. It's kind of neat.

*take a drink of something cold*

*nothing*

*nothing*

*ahh, there it is* and you can feel the cold sensation sort of spreading over your stomach.

I'm currently going through the insurance approval for my surgery. I have to have 6 months documentation of weight management. My question is to you that have been banded, would you do it all over again or would you pass?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
