Harder to swallow today?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Today is post-op Day 15 for me and I've had a good recovery thus far.

Today I notice I have a harder time swallowing water/soup, etc. I ovulated today, and when I had the Lap-Band I always found everything was tighter at ovulation and start of period. Could that be the case with the sleeve as well?

The only other thing that's different is I started purees yesterday, per surgeon's schedule. Had 4 oz cottage cheese and 1-2 oz of egg salad made with greek yogurt and mashed with fork (and chewed to smithereens).

No purees so far today because I don't want to cause any problems if things are moving more slowly anyway.

Has anyone else experienced tightness around ovulation/period?

Even though these foods are on your puree list, they need to be thinned out as much as you can tolerate them to insure that there are no swallowing issues. Try thinning your cottage cheese with either fat free or 1% milk. I've been adding milk and a little grapeseed oil to my pureed beans; the oil has a lot of Omega benefits!

Best of luck! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
