Just wondering I am two days post op and in horrible pain. I believe they are gas pains from my stomach up to my chest and back. Has anyone experienced this? And also I haven't been hungry but seeing food on tv makes me want it so much. I didn't realize how attached I was too food until the day I had my surgery and was watching tv in the hospital and saw a pizza commercial and my mouth watered and I wanted it badly lol. Just wondering if others are having the same problem as me...

It sounds to me that the pain you are having is normal for the first few days. As for the food. I didn't want food at all that early in but we are all different.

Hard to say about the pain- I had both horrible post-op pain and horrible gas pain, lasting the first week, but by the second week I was feeling better. Walking around was the only thing that made me feel better. I never took gas-x, but a lot of people post how it helps them. I totally know what you are going through regarding food cravings- my first week I can remember every time my hubby would have something to eat, it was really hard because his food smelled so good and I HATED drinking Protein Shakes. I wasn't hungry, but I think it was my food addiction that I was dealing with where my brain and eyes controlled what I ate, not my stomach. Food issues became MUCH easier for me after week 2 when I was on pureed food and could start eating things with flavor. I have no issues with it now- my hubby could eat an entire pizza in front of me and I wouldn't care.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
