Any UK sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, as the UK pre and post-surgery instructions vary so greatly from the US I thought it would be nice to have a thread for us Brits to chat. Come say hello! :-)

Sigh I am not British (though all my ancestors were). Nevertheless I watch a great deal of BBC America, so that should count for something.

Doctor Who (of course), and Doc Martin, and ALL the great detectives like Wallender and Endevor, and Sherlock...

The Brits seem to use real people rather than super models...

Come ON Brits, answer this nice person!

Hi one here, sleeved April 12, 86lb down and I am aiming for 100lb. My weight loss may be slow compared to many on here but I am OK with that. I am currently following 5:2 to try and get the last few pounds off.

If you search for UK sleevers you will find another link where some Brits are.

I love doc Martin. Brilliant! I used to love Dr Who until Matt Smith took over. Hate him and so stopped watching. Yeah Brits, where are you all?

Hiya, where abouts are you? I was sleeved in London too. I was told liquids for 3 weeks, puree for 3 weeks then soft foods for while and gradually introduce more solids and see how things go. liquids = anything that can be sucked up through a straw. Soft foods = anything that can be cut with a fork. By the look of the info I got I won't be back to normal foods until about 6 months. What was your advice? When were you sleeved?

Hi chrissy we, ve already been chatting but to let other fellow brits know, i, m 6 days post op and 16 lbs down including pre op diet I, m a northern girl lol and had my surgery done at thornbury hospital Sheffield although all my other pre and follow up consultations Will be at the nhs northern General hospital with my surgeon dr patel.

My post op diet is 3 days liquid followed by 3 weeks pureed then soft/mushy and crispy. Then stage 4 is solid textured diet 3-6 months after my sleeve, I guess I will know through triel and error when my stomach is ready for this stage. Dr advice is no alcohol for 12 months post surgery but I know some drs in America say 6 months, I know I will attempt a small glass of wine around Christmas, which will be about 5 months post op, I may find I no longer desire a drink, but I do like a glass with Christmas dinner so i, m not depriving myself lol.

Hi, my name is Debbie, I was sleeved on 19/08 at the Princess Margaret hospital in Windsor. All has gone very well. So relieved and pleased. On liquids until Tues when I can hv a thicker Fluid, ie mashed potatoes with Garvey so it's runny. Stewed fruit. I've been having W.W Soup, milky coffee with skimmed milk, bouillon, natural fat free yogurts and herbal teas plus Water. Not hungry and very happy. Going for little walks and watching lots of tv.lol I'm in a great support group via my surgeons office as he operates in a few hospitals x

Hi Debbie, welcome! It's great you're not feeling hunger. Sadly I still do but then I do get acid alot, even before surgery, so it could be that. Mind you, given what I'm taking in daily, I'd have felt ten times as hungry without surgery. I have one week left until I move on to pureed. I am so looking forward to mashed potatoes!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
