Mrs.FullerRN 189 Posted August 21, 2013 I used to smoke but quit over a year ago. However, I went out about a month ago and smoked about 5 cigarettes. Nothing since. Does anyone know how long it stays in the bloodstream? I'm terrified I messed my surgery up for one night

Yep, had all my testing done today at the hospital and he did not request nicotine testing. I guess it's because I'm a four time cancer survivor and he figured there'd be no way I'm smoking. He would be right, of course. But I know in the seminar class, he told everyone there, if they smoke, they'd have to go 6 months smoke-free before he'd operate. 1 honeylove reacted to this

I know my bestfriend did and she passed, even after having smoked 6 days prior to her nicotine testing.
endless80 697 Posted August 22, 2013 It takes nicotine 3 days to leave the bloodstream. You'll be fine.
