Dehydration miracle!

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve 12-jun-13. I have only lost 40 lbs. because I have not been able to exercise. I was so dehydrated, I was having dizziness, low b/p and fell-getting staples in my head after passing out and falling on the tile flood. .My cardiologist changed my meds a few times times over the phone-no results. Went to an appointment, found out I was dehydrated. Dr. Advised me to drink coconut Water, within 3 days I felt better than I have in a month. If you are dehydrated coconut water is the best better than Gatorade, only draw back it is quite pricey.

I wish I liked coconut Water. I've tried 3 different brands and just don't like the taste. But I'm glad it worked for you! I know a lot of hikers who drink it as well! It's definitely good for ya ;)

What I have been doing is mix coconut water with regular water and a little of cran-cherry juice on ice.

I've heard lack of potassium will make you feel similar. Glad you're feeling better!

Just a quick note about coconut water…. Not all coconut Water is equal, once the coconut water is heated for pasteurization it loses a lot of it’s benefits..

Here is a good link explaining it…

http://gnowfglins.com/2013/08/05/the-benefits-of-coconut-water-plus-how-to-ferment-it/#

The highlights of the link….

In short, if it comes in a can, if it comes in a tetra pac, or if it comes on the shelf and not refrigerated, there’s a 99% chance it is pasteurized, dead, and not worth the money. It needs to have been packaged in a way that it was not heated. Anything shelf stable is going to need either a preservative, or have been pasteurized.

In the end, I found two sources of coconut water that appear to be entirely raw and preserved properly. They are Exotic Superfoods and Harmless Harvest. My personal favorite is Exotic Superfoods because it comes frozen.

http://www.harmlessharvest.com/100-RawCoco

I’m ordering Exotic Superfoods today !! I’m day 6 being sleeved and almost passed out walking through Walmart today… With the symptoms you had, so it sounds like I am dehydrated too.

Good luck to you :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
