I just accidentally drank my 8 oz shake in 30 min instead of an hour like my doc suggested. It didn't hurt and I felt no restriction. I'm 6 days out. Is this okay? Is it because its a liquid and drains right through my pyloric valve? When will I start feeling restriction?

I'm almost one month out...I don't feel any restriction from liquids. I also don't feel restriction from yogurt. But, I definitely feel restriction when I eat my soft foods. I can only eat about 2-3 oz at a time.

Totally normal. Do your best to slow down but it is ok. Restriction comes as you move through the stages and get to solid foods.

I agree with the posters above that you will feel restriction as you move toward solids.

Still, you need to get in the habit of drinking slowly. I am unlike many and get big restriction even with liquids. I've been nursing my iced chai tea for almost an hour and I'm only half done of those 12 oz. Water is a bit more easily for me to get down but thicker liquids take time.

You're still very newly sleeved so go slow. You may feel like you have no restriction but between the soreness, swelling, and meds, you can hurt your tummy and not even know it.

I am 3 weeks out and can drink my 11 oz shake in half an hour I can drink a 32 oz Powerade zero in about an hour. My nurse says its fine... I have been able to drink really good no sips for over a week now. I don't gulp but I can take normal size drinks...

I also never felt "full" with liquids. now that I'm on soft foods, it takes very little for me to be satiated. I've heard when I'm actually eating regular (like steak, chicken, pork chops, etc) that I'll need even less. Hope thats true cuz the last couple days I've been eating more than the first couple days

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
