puchy123 56 Posted August 19, 2013 Has anyone here knows of someone or maybe had it happened to them. Can you cause a leak after2-3 month post op. and what can cause it. What re the symptoms .
TwinsMama 483 Posted August 19, 2013 I was told by my Dr that a sleeve can leak within 6 months. The reason is that it is still healing until that time (sometimes longer) and that as swelling goes down, leaks can become more visible. I haven't found anyone here (that I remember) having a leak later on.
puchy123 56 Posted August 19, 2013 Thank you for replying. I've been having a weird sensation in my stomach. My muscle aches said I was doing sit-ups but I haven't. I think I over ate or something. Not having any other symptoms .
RoxFC 175 Posted August 19, 2013 I asked my surgeon at my first post-op visit and she told me that it can happen up until 9 months. The symptoms are high fever, nausea, vomiting, and a constant pain in your left shoulder and left side of your torso. I was worried because I had pain in my back on the left side whenever I moved about 10 days after surgery. But, my surgeon assured me that the pain wouldn't go away with movement and that it would be almost excruciating. 1 TwinsMama reacted to this
TwinsMama 483 Posted August 19, 2013 Oh okay, well if you had a leak you'd most likely have a fever and pains in other places (not just your stomach). Hope you feel better soon! If you still feel this way tomorrow, maybe call your Dr just in case.
Kennedy 100 Posted August 19, 2013 Could be muscular?
RoxFC 175 Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks! It's actually gone now...it was more like a pinched nerve or something because when I would stretch my neck it would hurt somewhere in my left shoulder blade. I just got paranoid when I saw that one of the symptoms of a leak is left shoulder pain. Thankfully it wasn't that!
marfar7 1,533 Posted August 20, 2013 I asked my dr last week about leaks. He said most happen in the first 72 hrs. It's very, very rare to have one after the first 3 months. In fact, the latest he's ever seen (and he's a Center of Excellence and has done many sleeves, not sure the number) was 1 week. He's only had 3 leaks.
