It's pretty certain you will lose weight with the sleeve. Many make it to goal, some do not.

It may not be 100% guaranteed....but without WLS, most of us here could be guaranteed of still being obese.

Well, since my PAT which was 2 weeks BEFORE my surgery. I am now 2 weeks out so in exaclt one month of liquid diet and post-surgery I have only lost 14 lbs. granted, I ate 3 times during my 2 weeks liquid diet (hello I am human and fat) and I began soft foods before the Dr wanted due to my reading other people on here being allowed to. However, I still am only eating 600-1000 cals a day. My Dr says my body is holding on due to the dramatic calorie shift and soon it will speed up. Exercise helps. I have arthritis in my knees so I get only short walks in right now. As the weight drops I can go longer. I just walked a mile and my knee only slightly aches. Hoping for a one or two pound loss for today. I ate 1000 calories and got 70g of Protein and

I would think it would be virtually impossible not to lose SOMETHING, but results may vary. It all depends on how serious you are and how willing you are to make the necessary changes. You are not guaranteed to KEEP it off either.

Wrong thread...

Hmmm, not sure I agree with that article completely. My dr showed stats of 60% average excess weight lost through wls. Perhaps this article uses stats from the band, which everyone is now learning is not the great tool thought at the beginning.

The article is talking about 20-30% of TOTAL weight not excess weight. Makes a difference. Still, 20-30% seems a bit low but I think that completely depends on how overweight you were to begin with. It is also an average of everyone who has WLS, not an expectation for each person who has surgery, so half the patients will have to exceed those numbers, while the other half fail to meet it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
