stefs_dope 3 Posted August 18, 2013 Hi group. I guess im here because ive been feeling emotional. I was released from the hospital on 8/17 & couldnt do much due to swelling & gas however today (Sunday) I opened my eyes to a fear of.not taking in as much Water & Protein. I cant seem to drink as much as I want/need. Has anyone else gone through this or does anyone have any words of advice? Im nervous about not drinking enough of either water or Protein Shakes.< /p> 1 ne_diva reacted to this

Hi nancy, thank you for replying. I do feel a little better everyday, I just wanna make sure im.not missing out on the Water & Protein. My doctor stressed the importance of 30ccs of Water every 15 min & to make sure in between im drinking my Protein since protein aids in the healing process. They also gave me the pneumonia shot & ive started my period today so im all over the place lol. 1 ne_diva reacted to this
Michbrecc 31 Posted August 19, 2013 It gets easier, I am 10 days out. Everyday I was able to drink more, take baby steps. Took me an hour to get a shake down. 1 stefs_dope reacted to this
MIJourney 490 Posted August 19, 2013 Concentrate on liquids the 1st week. You don't want to become dehydrated. broth, SF popsicles, Water if you can. If you can't get Protein in right away don't be as concerned. I think I was lucky to get in 200 cals a day that 1st week but did sip liquids when I could. 1 stefs_dope reacted to this
stefs_dope 3 Posted August 19, 2013 Thank you all for replying. Your advice is liquid gold to me thank you for putting a little perspective into it. I now have a little something more to look forward to tomorrow.
Healthier2day1227 326 Posted August 19, 2013 Yes it gets easier and please don't beat yourself up if you don't get in all your Proteins at first. Just try your best, your stomach is still healing. As time passes you will find yourself able to finish a whole Protein Shake, but that's at about 2-3 weeks. So just keep sipping! 1 stefs_dope reacted to this
missyjoy2078 381 Posted August 19, 2013 I'm 6 weeks out and it does get better a little each day. I still can't get in all my Water but it's getting better. The Protein - much harder considering those shakes make me gag. Hang in there and try to remember its an entirely new life and it's going to take a while to get used to. I was told a few months. 2 ne_diva and stefs_dope reacted to this

I guess due to me be very mobile at the hospital, I was released. I still have problems with getting liquids in. But I'm sure it'll get better. I'm up to 24 ounces of plain liquids not including my thick Protein shakes (thank God for Carnation Instant Breakfast) and creamed Soups. Protein Shakes take around forty five minutes to finish. Cold Water intake gets better day after day. Just drink what you can. Personally i am struggling with wanting to eat something solid like lunch meat.< /p>
 jenoeldred 0 Posted August 23, 2013 I just had surgery Aug. 20th, why do I get a tight chest feeling in the esophagus area?
