What Foods Do You Miss?

Recommended Posts

Everyone, I haven't had surgery yet Iam still thinking about it. Just wondering what foods do you miss? Thats really the only thing (besides the insurance) holding me back. Why am I having these ups and downs? The only thing that keeps my sprit up is my husband and yall's before and after pictures. Speaking of pictures, I want to see more new ones. Thanks! ~Carmille

Hey Carmille,

I really don't miss many foods. What I really miss is being able to chug ice cold Water. I think that was the toughest thing for me.

As far as you thinking about your surgery, I can tell you with all honesty that it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I've been losing weight and I'm actually exercising and enjoying for the first time.

Good luck with whatever decision you choose............~~Jimboss~~

I miss white bread, and carbonated beverages but thats about it. Everything else is ok. But I used to love sandwiches on fresh white bread.

And Dr Pepper...I miss dr pepper.

Well, when I run accross one I can't eat, I will let you know...

So far - I can still eat anything I have tried.

Now, it was a little painful when I took that sip of Champagne on New Year's Eve... I really don't recommend carbonation - but I don't really miss soda all that much. I just drink iced tea.

Hugs!

I'm the same as Missy. bread and carbonation. Small price for good health. I've had small amounts of all goodies. I do have a sweet tooth.

I eat sf pudding and hot chocolate on a regular basis. I love the banana cream and white chocolate sf pudding mixes. They satisfy me. LIke Jack said my tastes have changed .The first couple of months was hard. Now at almost 6 months food is just not interesting to me now. Living life has grabbed me now.

edie:) :) :o:) :)

Honestly - nothing. food is no longer the enemy or scary to me so there's nothing I dont eat. I'm also lucky that I dont ahve any trouble with any food in particular. Everything in moderation has worked well for me.

Thanks for the rapid response guys!!!! Thats why I love this site so much! I think I would proberly miss white bread and soda too. I heard you could shake up all the fiz out of the soda and still drink it, is that true? Will you never ever be able to eat bread again? How about red meats? Do you feel full all of the time? Just trying to get an idea. Thanks ~Carmille

I can honestly say that I miss eating a nice big Subway sandwich. I was able to eat only 1 before my last fill. It was the best sandwich I have ever eaten!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
