August 12 was my big day!

Hi everyone, I'm Donna. Im looking forward to making some sleeve buddies!

Time is moving along fast since my sleeve surgery on Monday. I'm feeling so much better than I ever expected to feel this soon after surgery. I did struggle with some nausea and ended up in hospital longer than I anticipated. I weighed this morning and learned I've lost 11 pounds already. Amazing!

I am scheduled for sept 3rd. So excited. Been changing my diet for the past two weeks so pre op diet didn't shock my system so drastically . I started eating slowly and stopped drinking beverages during meals. I have to say not drinking Water or Vitamin water zero was harder than I expected. Thank god I stopped drinking pop a year ago. I am officially suppose to start preop on tues but have just decided to start a day early for ease of my routine for work. I've already lost seven pounds pre- pre op. it's been great to hear everyone's experiences. Good luck all

Hi! I had my surgery on 8/12 too! I've lost 8.6 lbs from my pre-surgery morning weight.

I had some complications after surgery (mainly an unknown allergy to morphine that caused me to heave through 7 different anti-nausea meds). The heaving caused my sleeve to swell and be VERY angry for a couple of days. I then had limited intake because anything more than 1/4oz would hurt going in.

But I'm doing MUCH better today!

I too had a few struggles. I ended up in hospital for five days but it was minor. I just couldn't get my liquids in without having to spit up which was foamy. I felt like I had a wall in my chest preventing anything from going down. I guess it was a combination of gas and nausea. It cleared up and I've felt great ever since.

I found gasX extra strength works awesome for me, has definitely help lower the pressure in my intestines and made restroom use easier too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
