Christel 4 Posted August 18, 2013 So tomorrows the big day! My anxiety is SO high! I have scrubbed every inch of my home, bought tons of groceries for the family, even laid out all my daughters clothes into outfits for my husband! I'm going crazy preparing my family for me to be gone. My husband has been acting like he's mad at me for the past few days and yelled at me last night over something stupid. I'm just ready for the surgery to be done. Ready to start this next chapter... 2 leslie1958 and gmanbat reacted to this
RJ'S/beginning 5,358 Posted August 18, 2013 This is all normal behavior....No doubt in my mind that your husband is scared of you going under the knife.....I went in thinking it was all going to be a breeze and it did not work out that way for me....So having some anxiety is good.... Soon you will join the rest of us on the losing side.......All the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

gmanbat 5,889 Posted August 18, 2013 I feel for you guys. I have been in many high anxiety situations, fortunately the surgery was not one of them. Debriefing myself after many a high-anxiety situation has taught me a few things. Most of what I was worried about never happened. The majority was imagination. The mind runs an infinite number of simulations in preparation but seldom gets it exactly right. Many times the greater problem was the stress of anticipating the problem. I would have better served myself by enjoying some pleasant diversion. You might as well enjoy the ride once you're on it. I tell myself that when I get on terrifying roller coasters with my granddaughter. When I get to the cloud-scraping top of the first hill I enjoy the view before my plunge into horror. When the coaster pulls into the end I congratulate myself on my level of courage before my granddaughter says those words that put the gnawing rat back into my stomach, "Can we ride again? 1 kwigillingok reacted to this

sharonlaff 17 Posted August 18, 2013 My surgery is tomorrow too. I just backed into my husbands car, smashed it up pretty good. Thank goodness he didn't get mad cause I was beating myself up enough. I did get a good cry in and I think I really needed that!! Just wish tomorrow would hurry up and get here!!!
micheleC 18 Posted August 18, 2013 Just try to remember that your loved ones are just as nervous as you are but they are having to try to be strong for you.....
stacechase 251 Posted August 18, 2013 My surgery is tomorrow too! I have anxiety about many things, but this is not one of them, which surprises me! I guess I've been so proud of myself following my pre-op diet to a T, doing all of my research, and I've lost 20 lbs since July 26th...it's almost like a reward to have this surgery tomorrow. You'll do great, just remember how fortunate we are to have this kind of opportunity and how amazing we'll feel a few months out!
