What a great topipc! I'm a vet (3 years July) and here are some items that were really handy or I wish I had had post op (you've already bought the most important!)

1. popscicle mold

2. blender or emulsion wand

3. A really big variety of Protein samples - most online stores will give free samples and when you are navigating your new tastebuds after surgery you will want to try them all out so that you can more quickly discover what works for you instead of wasting time and $$.

4. scar oil/healing balm

5. Biotin

6. a measuring tape

7. blender-ball shake bottles, several of them

Hope this helps!! :)

Gas-x chewables (works great for helping to get the gas out after surgery), liquid adult Tylenol (great for pain control after surgery), ditto on the Protein power samples, find one that works and you like. At least 2 blender ball shake bottles for the Protein Shakes. A good tasting, preferably homemade, chicken broth. I made a big homemade batch and froze in small containers. sugar free popcicles and fudgecicles. sugar free hard candies. Anti itch cream (my incisions itched and developed a rash around them a few days after).

Corn cakes (like rice cakes but made from corn). They are bland but very crispy and always helped settle my stomach. Two years out and I still eat them every day with a little cheese and turkey. Love them.

A full body pillow to prop yourself up on your side post op. makes sleeping so much more comfy.

Soft cup sleep bras so when you are lounging around and people stop by, you are more comfortably "supported". (My boobs are far too big to be loose in public.)

Flushable wet wipes cuz you never trust a fart post op. Your bum will thank you.

Baby spoons so you can learn good bite size for your tummy.

An insulated cup you love to keep your Protein shakes cold. I like my Tervis tumbler and my Camelbak Edy. Get something leakproof and sweat proof so you can carry fluids with you at all times!

I would also recommend a fitbit or other tracking device for your steps. I am one who will jog in place in front of the TV if I don't ave my steps in or if a fitbit friend is ahead of me for the day. It syncs with myfitnesspal which is perfect!

I ordered a large flat ice pack from Amazon and it really helped for the first week or so. Helped me get off the nasty pain meds after about 2 days. OXO makes a very nice set of 2 oz containers with lids and a tray for freezing. I've loved those. Good luck!

Hi Nikki congrats on your surgery date. I purchased a shaker cup with ice wand and a storage cup for your Protein powder. I love it. Got it on Amazon. Called fit fresh.

Just another thought. I plan on getting a small Soup thermo so when I visit friends for dinner I can have mine handy or if you plan on being out for a while it may come in handy when you're feeling hungry. That way you don't choose healthy outside good. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
