I haven't had surgery yet but, I notice while going through this 6 month supervised program, I've been eating more. Maybe, I just notice it or just eating everything because i know im going through the process of getting the surgery.

What do you think?

I would agree with this statement! It's like since I have decided that this is the route that I'm going to take that I think about all the stuff I won't be able to have after surgery. I realized I was getting out of control and wrangled myself in a bit. I've cut out sugar drinks and I'm working on cutting sugar out completely. And I have been working on Portion Control. I know that if I start making changes now that it will be easier for me in the long run. But yes absolutely. I think it's normal to experience this. After all if we had a normal relationship with food we wouldn't be here. :)

I was defiantly eating more than ever before I started my pre op diet. You can't help but think this is your last chance to enjoy food.

It's not true tho, you will still enjoy food in the future :)

Best of luck!

Yes!! That is what I am also struggling with. I ate so much yesterday that I woke up full still. I am so disappointed in myself. I am relieved to hear that I'm not the only one goin through this struggle.

I'm also happy to learn that I'm the only one going through this. I have gain weight in this process and feel bad about it. I should be having surgery in November or December and hope i don't mess it up.

I did the same thing. Once I made up my mind, I systematically used that 2 months to enjoy everything I wanted. I was mourning the loss of my way of life I'm advance, I think. Wrong or right, I'm glad I did it. I didn't mourn the loss of food or that lifestyle after surgery, and still don't. Now at 8 months out, I have to be vigilant not to slip back into old habits.

I did the same thing. In fact..I made my hubby take me to two different restaurants on our last dinner out. One for chargrilled oysters..and one for steaks. I gained 25 lbs. However..I'm about six weeks out and dont feel that need anymore. I go out to eat and get a grilled or baked app..or eat off others plates. .depending on what they ordered. At home I don't crave candy or bread...or chips. I don't regret my last affair with food. What I did was right for me. I said my goodbyes.

I just hope by me gaining weight doesn't make my insurance company think i am not serious. I am so ready for this life changing experience.

I defiantly understand your concern in this. If you feel this may be a problem then try to lose the 25 lbs between now and then. I know that's easier said than done but even if you just lost 10 it would only look like you had a 15 lb gain. Good luck!

Insurance companies might differ but I was told mine only looks at the weight recorded at the first surgeon appointment.

I'm sorry I went back and read and apparently got your post mixed up with another. I think you will be fine! I mean 4 lbs could be Water retention.

What you're going through is consistent with my experience. Others on here have called it a food funeral. I called it "electric chair eating." Like if I were going to the electric chair tomorrow, what all would I want to eat first. I gained wait and misery during my pre-surgery process (and I'm still 4 days from surgery) I will tell you the one benefit -- it was confirmation all over again that I need this surgery and I cannot do this "on my own." I don't think that surgery is going to be a magic bullet, but I have to believe that it is going to be a tremendous tool in my arsenal. Best of luck to you! Hang in there!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
