I had terrible pain with my surgery too. In fact, I felt horrible for about a week and a half and was thinking what in the heck did I do. About day 10-11, I turned a corner and started feeling so much better. I teach school so I have had the summer to recover and in the last 2 weeks, I have finally been able to say I completely feel good and have enough energy to not feel completely zapped at the end of the day.

I thought i had hurt myself getting into bed yesterday. That numb spot on my stomach by the large incision felt like it balled into a fist. I really thought the worst, broke out in a sweat.

Apparently it moved something because i had my first poop 8 hrs later, lol.

Hi,

Was sleeved Wed Aug 14th, had a horrible gas pain under my left breast. Thought I was having a heart attack! I have the gas melts in cherry flavor. First I had to convince the nurse to let me take MY gas-x but once I got through to them the pain subsided (SLOWLY) that was the biggest thing so far about this surgery. Home and trying to get in my liquids, I do hot tea in the morning, ice pops are freakin GREAT and flavored Water, then I'll do some chicken broth to end things with. Haven't looked at a scale and won't for right now and I walk through my apartment, back and forth. I still feel really tired so I don't want to jump on the treadmill just yet. Taking this end one day @ a time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
