Don't try to guess. Measure out 2 or so ounces of your Protein Drink and stop there. You can do that every couple of hours if you want, but your Fluid is much more important. Concentrate on that if you feel no physical hunger and worry about Protein in a week or so. GasX strips were my best friend, by the way!

I am 8 days out and feel amazing, it gets better. Gas X is my savior, everyday gets better, I promise.

I was sleeved on the 14th and i passed gas for the first time today. I'm not sure if the Gas X helped but i'm using it.

I also sleep on about 5 pillows, propped up. I wake up every few hours but i don't want to hurt myself. I've had to use a cane to get out of bed and use the toilet.(had it from a previous injury)

I'm getting better and pushing through the pain. I can basically get out of bed without the cane now.

Just give it time. Take your meds, take gas x like crazy, walk as much as you can tolerate. Get enough fluids. Every day is a new step.

I was terrified of all this. I still am kind of scared with the pain, but it really has gotten better with time, and it hasn't been that long.

Hi, I felt the same way. Like fast forward this NOW! Just walk as much as you can and don't stress about the gas. It will come out and you'll feel so much better. Just keep walking. I don't know if you are at the hospital or at home. If you are at home, you should try to walk outside for at least 5-10 minutes every hour. And focus on drinking Water. Warm water was easier for me and relaxed my belly. I feel for you, I really do. I'm two weeks out and I feel pretty great, considering. Remember you just had a big surgery and chill the hell out. :)

P.s. I didn't use gas x and my doctor about had a fit when I mentioned it. The point is to pass the gas not try to get rid of it with more drugs. Your intestines need to wake up, not be calmed down. Just my two cents.

I swear it gets better!!! I'm almost 3 months out and I feel great. Finally feeling normal. The heating pad was my friend for awhile. It seemed to help with the gas pains and other discomfort. Good luck to you!!!

You can release gas by leaning on counter top. Promise this will work. Stand there for a while the gas will work its way out!! I had to do this after 2 c sections it works. Hang in there :-) it will pass.

That's weird because i asked my baratric leader person in the hospital and she said it was okay, lol.

Docs really need to get together and set standards.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
