Well, Monday morning at 6 am I will be getting my sleeve. I had a band placed about three and a half years ago and had to have it removed last March after begin pregnant with horrible morning sickness throughout the pregnancy (9 months of vomiting made the band slip). I gained all the weight - 80 lbs - plus a few extra pounds. Now I'm looking forward to the sleeve and to restarting this journey. I did really well with the band.

Did anyone else have such a long time between surgeries? Do you think losing with the sleeve is similar?

I would love to hear back from people.

Thanks!

Welcome!

My surgery will be band removal and sleeve revision in one operation. Monday morning 9am check in, same day as you! I too am hopping I will do well with the sleeve. I was (mostly) happy with the band until it went bad. If it helps, I have never read anyone post that they went from band to sleeve and wish they still had a band. But I have read about so many people that revised and love their sleeve.

Had my band out in December and getting sleeved on sept 12. I had already gained most of my weight back prior to band being taken out have gained 10-15 lbs since its removal. So, basically starting from scratch! I've wondered about wl with so much time in between. I've heard revisioners often don't lose as quickly as first time wls peeps, but with so much time in between I wonder if that will still be the case?? Good luck!!

So I don't know how to quote each of you, but good luck to both the people having surgery on Monday! Let's keep in touch. Always helpful to talk to someone else going through the same thing!

Actually, such a person exists. Her name is Jean McMillan and she's published a book called Bandwagon. She's on lapbandtalk.com. She's a band to sleeve revision and hates her sleeve. Even tho she's lost all the weight she gained back when he band complications started. not sure why she's having trouble with the band. She's a regular contributor to the lapband magazine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
