Fiddleman 4,376 Posted August 17, 2013 Anyone have any insight on there favs? Those new blade runners look sweet! Anyone try them yet? I like the Nike Free shoes for running, cross fit and at home workouts: http://m.nike.com/us/en_us/pw/mens-running-shoes/7puZbrkZ8yz I used to run 20 miles a week with these. Now I run about 6 miles a week with the shoes in addition to working out with them. I am going to look for a good lifting shoe myself that has a thick hard plastic heel, yet is still a light shoe. Any ideas? Spent 100 on the Nike Free and fitted to it at a running store. Best shoe ever for running! 5k and 10k several times a week. I like it so much, I bought a second pair after 6 months of constantly running on the first pair. 2 Ms.Yvette and Bos123 reacted to this

Autumnrain1908 76 Posted August 17, 2013 I am a runner and I love Brooks. Most runners wear brooks or mizunos. 4 Bos123, LifetimeLoser, summerjjjj and 1 other reacted to this
stacechase 251 Posted August 17, 2013 Do you have a store like Road Runners or Fleet Feet close by? You might want to do a Yelp search or Google search for independent athletic shoe shops like these near you. There are some great brands (Asics, Brooks, Saucony) but it's a good idea to spend the extra time & a little extra money to be professionally fitted! That way they can watch you walk & jog, etc. and fit you with the perfect pair! Good luck!

Butterthebean 8,146 Posted August 17, 2013 I suppose I'm the lone Vibram wearing runner in the house. Probably the only one on all of VST. Oh well, I've gone back and forth and nothing keeps my proper form in check like wearing the Vibrams. For almost regular (but still minimalist) shoes...the Merrell Road Glove or Trail Glove are great shoes. Another good one is the Skechers Gobionic. An unusual shoe with no heel lift or arch support, but still has some bottom cushioning if you like that. Very very light...as light as Vibrams. I started out with Brooks Beasts which is about the thickest soled motion control shoe there is. Worked my way down the gammut to barefoot before settling on the Vibrams. With the thick soled cushioned shoes I had nothing but knee pain while walking or running.
CharmingTortoise 83 Posted August 17, 2013 I second the Skecher Dlites for walking shoes. I literally own 5 pairs. I have tried tons of other shoes but I end up with pain in my shins. They have lots of padding but don't feel like they weigh fifty tons.
LifetimeLoser 208 Posted August 17, 2013 I am a runner and I love Brooks. Most runners wear brooks or mizunos. I agree from research. I'm currently sporting some Brooks. I absolutely love them. The most comfortable pair I've ever owned. I haven't tried mizunos yet.

Bos123 221 Posted August 17, 2013 What about new balance for areobics? Anybody have those? I have a friend who is a beach body coach and she swears by these but I'm not convinced lol

I have tried going away from these shoes several times and each time my form goes down the tubes, and I can feel it. When I wear these shoes (or go barefoot) I get instant feedback from my feet if my form isn't perfect. People worry about hurting their feet but if you gradually strengthen the feet going barefoot or minimal you will not hurt your feet but you will save your knees. To me wearing the thick soled shoes is the equivalent of wearing casts on your feet. It just makes them weaker because the muscles and tendons never get utilized. Ok....off my soap box. I love to use them or go barefoot for my regular workouts. 2 Butterthebean and LifetimeLoser reacted to this
