what a difference a year makes !

my journey is almost done. I'm recovering from a full Tummy Tuck after my successful wls a year ago 7-12-12.. its been a roller coaster but a true success!! I'm grateful and so blessed to have made it this far. although i didn't reach my goal wieght I'm still ok with my results. (just 12 pds to go ) i attribute my success to what i put in my mouth i no longer eat just because food is available or snack for no reason and food now is for fuel no for gloutney ...yes i enjoy food but it doesn't control me I'm able to ignore/ and battle those cravings those binges and that takes nothing but full will power on my part!! (not easy) i always have leftovers and i never finish a full plate of food. self control has become the norm. (not easy) but i pray and just a complete change of old habits.. although i have great support from everyone around me its really all up to me. i will never go back to that big me i hated! i do get hunger attacks but i battle them with healthy choices. i have critics who say i took the lazy easy way out but they are not in my shoes and this journey worked for me. my advise is if you are ready to start on your journey you have to be truly ready! and find what works for you!

The last phase of my journey once I'm fully recovered is to tone my body at a gym (something i dread and dislike very much) but I'm determined to conquer if the gym doesn't agree with me i will tone at home and continue my mall walks. blessings to all.

good luck to you stick to it you will be there before you know it..... oh yes i had 2 c-sections also and had a cross scar with a horrible belly button no gym surgery or excersize would have ever fixed it.. so yes to the tt (for me) .. the recovery has been more difficult then the wls first 2 weeks very painful was on norco for pain I'm still recovering i have numbness swelling and have to use a binder or Spanx for 1-2 months.. also hard to sleep flat I'm still a bit hunched i have to remember not to over do it!! so not at all how the TV portrays cosmetic surgery.. so you must be completely ready to endure it all. blessing

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
