auntyc 14 Posted August 17, 2013 Hi everyone, I am now 4 days post-op and never thought I would get here! The pain was excruciating immediately after but is slowly letting up a tiny bit. I seem to have gas all the time and left side still hurts. My back is hurting but I know this is from me tensing up as I move around. What I am most worried about is my abdomen being so hard when I am standing or moving around. Laying down is fine but walking it feels like a hard ball. Anyone else have this? When does it go away? And when did you start feeling normal again? I am scared something is wrong.

A_New_Lily 39 Posted August 18, 2013 Four days post op for me. It's taken me this long to fart, and the pain isn't as bad. The left side is where the biggest incision is so that's going to hurt more. Standing straight is hard, i'm starting to feel it more across my abdomen.

I have started adding in the Miralax and stool softeners to make it easier. I think if we can "move" things along the incision pain wouldn't be so bad. Here's hoping! chrissythemoo 34 Posted August 18, 2013 That will go away once u start pooping and farting Love it! I am 7 days post-op today and can report with pride that last night I did my first, proper, fully formed poo! Lol! I have never been so excited by a bowel movement! Up till now I've had diarrhoea daily. I am so happy! Lol!
Sams-Queen 9 Posted August 18, 2013 Walking helps pass the gas and gets your bowels moving. Walk, walk, and walk!!!!

auntyc 14 Posted August 19, 2013 How soon after surgery can I start taking the stool softener? I'm not sure. My Dr. Said any pills I take immediately after were to be no bigger than a pencil eraser. My stomach seems ok with them. They are small enough I suppose. My best recommendation is to ask about those and ask to start something to help you go as soon as possible. 6 days out and am still stuck. Very uncomfortable!!! crowsnestmama 240 Posted August 19, 2013 My Dr recommended Gas-X. They are really small and helped tremendously! I started them day 5. I take 2 a day, but you can take up to 4.

These are the things I really wish they would address more in pre-op.
