A_New_Lily 39 Posted August 16, 2013 When did you after surgery? I was told it is a very important step. I got sleeved on the 14th and i haven't yet, i'm getting very impatient. (I can burp though and the gas pain in my shoulders isn't as bad as it was before.) I want to fart and make sure i'm okay!
ScottsGirl 106 Posted August 16, 2013 I had my sleeve done on the 7th and it took AT LEAST 4 days for me to pass gas, and it was very little because liquids don't usually cause that kind of gas for me. However, since I'm on blenderized/strained foods now, I am constantly farting, but there is no scent... weird, but glad! LOL It's important because they pump your abdomin full of air during surgery and the air comes out when it is absorbed into your system. Burping is good enough, I say, this means it is making it's way out, just not out the way you would expect! Happy farting!
gmanbat 5,889 Posted August 16, 2013 Consensus here seems to be that extended walking works the methane out. How and why I do not know, but I do know that it is better to fart and bare the shame than not to fart and bare the pain. 1 Chellemetime reacted to this
DeniseM 238 Posted August 16, 2013 Don't worry, it will happen! Days 3-5 were when I had the most gas and gas pain.
supbanana 153 Posted August 17, 2013 Not until day 4, really. Today is day 7 and marks the most gas I've had. I only burped once, on the first day.
SkyySquared 0 Posted August 17, 2013 I also had my surgery on the 14th and I just started passing today. it was really easy once I grabbed a pillow and held it against my stomach when I tried to push. Best of luck (:

backtonew1 0 Posted February 17, 2014 I have a question maybe someone can answer, is there certain types of food that gives you bad gas. I am a few years post op and I have to take gas x to keep from having gas.
