How much does everyone eat?

Recommended Posts

I'm 7 months out and I can eat at least a cup of food at each meal. Anyone else able to eat that much? I'm still worried I've stretched my sleeve.

Grrr.

I am 7 months out and I can eat a cup of salad. I can only eat 2-3ozs of a dense Protein and then a few bites of vegs and I'm stuffed.

This is encouraging because I am scared to death of failure.

You didn't stretch your sleeve! It's actually incredibly difficult, not to mention painful, to stretch the sleeve even the tiny bit it will give.

Your sleeve will have more space as it heals (I had a big jump around six months) and will relax a bit with time. The size my sleeve was at 14 months post op is the same size it is now at 37 months post op.

How much I can eat depends entirely on what I'm eating!

I can eat a cup to a cup and a half of food at a meal, depending on what I'm eating. If you're worried, weigh your dense Protein and eat that until you're full for one meal. I eat in a way that intentionally allows me to eat more food - going for the foods that slide a bit first, and eating bites of Protein throughout the meal, instead of first. I do it because I'm three years out and need more calories (and variety!) at this point. So reassure yourself with the protein first and then relax a bit. You're not eating too much unless you're gaining weight.

I'm with Cheri, I'm 2+ years out. I can eat the same as I did 1 year ago. It completely depends on the food. I can eat a 1/2 a box of cheezits (yes you read that right) or 2 cups of salad. But can only eat 3/4 of a small hamburger or 1 medium slice of pizza, 4 oz of streak/ chicken/ fish. Depends on what it is. I obviously avoid those evil Cheezits! :-)

Im a little over 8 months out and I eat 2 - 3 ounces at a time. I can get a good size tilapia filet down because its not dense but I can only eat about 3 turkey meatballs. I love my restriction.

At almost six months out I can eat about 3-4oz of dense Protein.

Oyster crackers I can eat a lot of. I know because that's about all I could eat with steroids. But chicken fills me up fast. tuna I can get maybe 4-5 oz in since it is less dense. 1 slider burger without the bun fills me up.

I'm 4 months out today and I can eat 4-4.5 oz. My NUT said by one year I should be able to eat a cup of food. When that happens I'm to do less snacking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
