Hello, I'm new to all of this soooo here it goes.

I have been approved for my lapband surgery and I have completed all of presurgical requirements but the surgeon/hospital I'm having it done at is just poking around. They say their waiting for the new "language" to cross over for the new year from my insurance company. The insurance co says their just waiting on them for a date so what is the problem. I have a hard time getting the coordinator to return any calls/emails. :help: I guess I'm not sure sure how far I should push them. I feel that I'm bothering them. I'm ready!!! :nervous Lets get with it.

Any suggestions!!!

Who is waiting for the new language? The insurance company? or your Surgeon?

If you have a pre-approval letter from your insurance company - then push on your surgeon's office until you get a date.

If you don't - then call your insurance company and hammer on them. You can push harder on the insurance company than you can on your surgeon. :]

I would push them. It sounds like they are too busy or don't know what to do. Getting the run a round is not fun. I would call them and ask them to schedule it and tell them your insurance company is just waiting for that. Good luck.

The coordinator says she waiting for the "language" to stitch over from the insurance co for 2007. I sent coordinator an email yesterday stating that the insurance company is waiting on a date from them. I got no response. Hmmmmm. Yeah, I have an approval letter. Just waiting!!! Can I call insurance co to push surgeon for date?

Thanks

In my opinion, one of the most important factors in the surgery is the support you recieve, before, during and after, if they are treating you like this now, whats it going to be like when you have questions, need fills etc. I think I would push, call your insurance company, get someones extension there that can give them the ok, then go right to the clinic, be persistant, let them know all that needs to happen is someone at this office needs to call this number and give them a date, they will give you the ok.

Sometimes we just need to give people a little nudge, when they see we are serious, they tend to focus a little clearer.

Good luck

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
