Anyone have input on how they handled blood pressure and cholesterol medications? My PCP was not sure about crushing them and has to check with the company rep. Just wondering what others experience has been.

Scheduled for 1/31/07 with Dr. Spivak. :clap2:

Any meds I had to take I either crushed or cut in quarters until I was able to swallow them whole. If you or your doctor are unsure you can always ask the pharmacist and they can tell you. Good Luck!

I take Avapro for high blood pressure, and I've been crushing it. It's horribly gross -- I can't wait till I'm able to swallow it in halves!

As for what's crushable... I'm pretty sure that you can crush your BP meds as long as it is not extended-release.

I was taking mobic(arthritis med) and my doctor told me I would have to come off of it. He said maybe at about 6 months I might be able to take one every few days, but that anti inflam. tend to cause problems with the band and you run the risk of an ulcer with them.

I am scheduled for surgery on the 31st of this month. One week to go, yaa!!!

My post op instructions say "no anti inflamatory meds without first checking with the doctor" I know that anti inflamatory meds can be irritating to your stomach, maybe that is why they are a no-no.

If you're not sure whether your meds can be crushed ask your pharmacist. Mine was very helpful in giving advice about this. My doctor told me not to swallow anything bigger than a birth control pill, and luckily none of my meds are. But I checked with my pharmacist before my surgery anyway.
