I have a question about Protein drinks because on the preop diets they tell you to drink shakes and never mention the other Protein beverages like Isopure. Does it matter which ones you drink?

The Protein Drinks are good to help you reach your protein requirement and also counts as your water/liquid intake.

Right I get that part of it but I'm talking about the milky shakes versus the clear Isopure-style Protein Drinks. Is there a difference between those Protein Drinks nutrition wise? I'm going to email my nut and see.

I still take my shakes and follow the diet given. These just help me reach my protein and Water intake. I make freeze pops and Jello with this drink and then eat it as my snack.< /p>

Trader Joes

I am trying out Protein drinks before I am sleeved 10/22. I picked up 2 cans of prepared Protein drinks at a trader Joes and liked them. The chocolate has 35 grams of protein, 170 calories and 4 grams of carbs. The vanilla has 21 grams of protein, 4 grams of Fiber, and 110 calories. I don't know how it will taste to me after surgery bit now it is good.

Are those shakes or protein drinks. All the protein drinks I have seen are fruit flavored and zero carbs/sugar. I don't know about anyone else but some things do taste different to me. I can't stand taste/smell eggs now:( good luck with surgery. God Bless !!

These are called pure protein and they are like shakes. A serving is one can. You can check it out at www.eatgoodfeelgreat.com. That is their website and the shakes seem to be available at a number of stores.

I found Isopure Gel in a squeeze Pouch, and it's pretty good! It seems like it would be perfect for when I am too weak to chew/swallow post-op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
