Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm definitely a newbie... I had surgery on Tuesday 8/13/13... Talk about nausea and gas pain! Whoa I've never felt soooo sore and uncomfortable in my life. I was discharged on day 2 and I'm at home now... Still uncomfortable, restless sleep, trapped gas, no BM yet, and trying to learn how to SIP small amounts of water.... I just need a little encouragement from my fellow sleevers... Please and thank you!

I had horrible nausea the first night! Walk if you can for the gas. I'm a week out and feel pretty normal (but no physical hunger!).

The first month is a little rough...Just keep your eye on the prize and you will make it thru just fine! I promise it gets easier and easier. I am 2.5 years out and it is the best decision I have ever made! Stay Strong!

Day 2 is worst day ever for many sleevers :( Each day and week will get better. Promise!! You will soon feel like you never had surgery except for the amount of food you can eat. Hang in there!

The surgeon told me at discharge "never trust a fart". LOL, did that prove true. The first BM was not pretty. However, it gets easier. The gas pain goes away - walking does help. The energy comes back - it took me about a week or so. And the new schedule of eating and learning to eat again gets easier. I'm three months out and feeling pretty good about it. (It's been a month since I threw up from eating too fast. I strongly suggest putting the utensil down between bites. Save yourself from my mistake!)

The first week for me was horrible..It started getting better the second week and then every day after that...I know it's hard right now but I promise it really does get better and before you know it, it will all be a distant memory...hang in there..

Think you will be getting the picture - we all had pretty grim early days, but it does get better :-)

Hormones will also be kicking in so if you get a bit weepy or experience some buyers remorse (as in what the heck have I done???), it will pass...

Every day gets a bit better, stick with what you are told to do in relation to drinking, eating (eventually) and exercising and you won't go too far wrong. Don't worry too much in the first week or so about Protein, Water is your priority.

But lots of support on here, we are all on the same road just at different points :-))))

I had surgery on Monday. Last night felt like I had a fever with the chills and all. Today not so much. But I still feel cold. Any one have this issue or help would be great.

I'm 24 days post op and I feel great! I'm still trying to get the hang of what I can eat and how much I can eat. I try to stick to a schedule and eating routine..2 or 3 oz every 3 hours. The first week is the roughest. You will get better soon! We were all there. The gas pains went away for me around day 6 or 7. I barely have any pain in my abdomen anymore. It's just slightly sore.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
