Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was sleeved on 3rd June. And in the last week food is just mot interesting or tasting nice anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm still eating cause I have to but just don't look forward to eating. Any ideas I could try?

Hi Bec. I have found the same thing. I used to love eggs and now they taste different. I get really excited about what I'm going to eat, but it still doesn't taste as good as I know it should! I am looking at this as a positive though! Yay. food no longer has the same hold on me that it used to. I am just trying different things and seeing how it goes. I'm still on mushy food too, so will see what it's like when I move onto real food. Good luck

I have been looking at a website - emilybites.com. It is great and has lots of low fat recipes that I am going to try. Especially love the ones done in a muffin tin. Perfect size for us. Can't wait to try them!

Thank goodness it's just not me. food just doesn't taste the same. I'm trying to see it as a positive but it's hard. I'm on normal foods and it's just a little hard lol. I have just had a wrap with chicken, cheese, mayo and lettuce. It tastes better than anything I've had lately.

We'll see how this next week goes

Yep, I take it as a positive, 'cause I don't have many cravings. I just 'eat to live'

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
