ooffa511 506 Posted August 15, 2013 My husband went out and spent 150dollars on video games. When I said that is bullshit, his response to me was u spent 150 dollars on clothes. Right away I got really defensive and started flipping out. I have lost 120lbs since last may and had no summer clothes. He apologized but I am still pissed off. It's like he diminished all my hard work. What an a*****e
nsquared 232 Posted August 15, 2013 Congratulations on your hard work. Losing 120lbs is amazing! Good for you.
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted August 15, 2013 Thank goodness my wife doesn't say anything when I spend my hard earned money on frivolous things. Yeah....sometimes I do, I have a whole garage full of stuff I don't really need. But my bills are paid. The lights are still on. Mortgage is up to date. And I still put the max into my 401K every week so what I do with the rest is my business. Now....if I wasn't pulling my weight financially....then I could understand her being upset. 4 GoldyGirl, No game, FishingNurse and 1 other reacted to this
No game 14,437 Posted August 15, 2013 Ummm... Butter? I don't pull my weight financially! And I can spend what I want! but I don't spend frivolously. So to the op if you guys have the cash? Why can't you both spend some and not get mad at each other? Are you mad that he spent money that you do not have? Or on his childish purchase?? My husband spends ridiculous amounts on bike parts and I mean RIDICULOUS! I would never spend that kind of money on that crap! But hey he doesn't understand my obsession with my L'Occitane body creams either. So we let each other be. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
lsereno 2,525 Posted August 15, 2013 My guess is the mad part related to him bringing up that she spent $150 on clothes, which maybe she felt was a necessary purchase since last summer clothes would probably require wearing with a rope to hold up. And she took it like a slap in the face: "it's like he diminished all my hard work" My hubby is a tightwad. He is cheap to the max, but over 30+ years has learned to let me spend as I please. Would i spend more without him? Probably, but a happy medium makes for a long relationship in my book. That and knowing which fights to pick and what to let go of. OP: You probably pissed him off, which caused him to say the first hurtful thing he could think of. Not that he means it or that he is not proud of you. Look to his day to day actions to evaluate whether that is true or not. Lynda Lynda 1 Butterthebean reacted to this
ooffa511 506 Posted August 15, 2013 We really don't have the money to spend. That is why I got annoyed at first. But it was his rebuttal that really annoyed me.
No game 14,437 Posted August 15, 2013 We really don't have the money to spend. That is why I got annoyed at first. But it was his rebuttal that really annoyed me. Well I would be mad then too! When money is tight, new clothes after losing 120 pounds is a necessity. Video games are not... He obviously did something very dumb, and his only defense was to say something really dumb. 1 FishingNurse reacted to this

ooffa511 506 Posted August 15, 2013 If u added up the salaries of all the things stay at home mom did, the number would be well into the six figures.... Chef, house keeper, maid etc. the list is never ending 1 No game reacted to this
