Hello Everyone, I was Sleeved on July 31, My 20th Wedding Anniversary! (great gift for me and Hubby) I had my one week with the Surgeon on the 7th and my 2 week today with the Nutritionist. I am having a really hard time getting in my REQUIRED 60g of Protein and 60oz of liquids a day. For whatever reason I am not thirsty and I can NOT STAND the Protein Powder. Isopure drinks are tasting "medicinal" and "Chalky" and the Unjury powder is making me GAG. I don't want to dehydrate but I am looking for TRICKS to achieving the level of liquids and Protein that I am going to require for the rest of my life. OH, the other Protein Drinks (Oh Yeah! and others) remind me of MILKSHAKES, which I hate. So please if any of you have ideas please share!

Can I warm it like hot chocolate? I have a very sensitve palate. Cold chocolate milk "creeps" me out. I don't like strawberry milk either. Im a straight plain 2% kind of girl. LOL I think I have had so many of the drink "sticks" that I don't want those either. I told the nutritionist today that I really don't want to seem difficult, but I am going to need options. Is there a PROTIEN PILL out there anywhere????? or one that dissolves better than Unjury?

I actually like the Unjury. I add PB2 to my shakes. Makes them more tolerable.

At first, getting the required fluids and Protein are a chore. At your point, you should be able to drink the requisite amount of fluids. It doesn't really matter whether or not you are thirsty, drink anyway. Force yourself to drink small amounts frequently, vary the type of Fluid you take ( Water, flavored water, low salt V-8 juice, etc.) and try warm drinks as well as cold ones. Also, as your abilities to handle different foods and to fit more in your stomach improve, getting in the Proteins will become easy and with planning you will be able to do so without Protein Drinks. One tip, try foods that count as both fluid and protein, nonfat plain Greek yogurt is one of those. No sugar added hot chocolate (Swiss Miss makes this.) made with nonfat milk and a partial scoop of vanilla or chocolate Protein Powder works, too. Most importantly, tell yourself that you can do anything for a short time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
