I call "drinking 64 oz water" BS

Recommended Posts

Yes I said it. Shoot me. I don't drink all that Water. I drink fluids when I remember. When I'm thristy. Just like before vsg.

Guess what? I'm doing amazing. I've lost 45 lbs since May 23.

I eat solids, 60 to 80 gr Protein per day.

Vitamins and supplements galore.

Have anyone read about Water poisoning? Google it. I've seen people getting sick from it.

I will drink when I'm thristy. My body has its own alarm system. I won't push water down just because that is the general consensus.

There, I said it.

Water poisoning can happen after drinking excessive amounts of water. 64oz a day is not excessive. If drinking less is working for you, that's great. Best of luck on your journey! :)

Best of luck. You can make decisions about your life. That said, 64 oz of liquid ain't much!

Yep, what they said. And for me, I live in a very harsh environment and 64 oz is just enough to keep from getting dehydrated.

stop being dramatic...no one ever got Water poisoning from a mere 64 ounces...

if you do not want to drink any water at all, its your choice but it is not BS.... your life, your journey....does not change the fact that drinking 64 ounces of water a day ( or even more) is good for most everyone, especially those with compromosed digestive systems ( bariatric surgery patients included)....

water is good for bodily funtions.... when something malfunctions ( and some take a LONG time to show evidence of malfunction) consider this....

I'm going to have to agree with the posters above. The more I drink, the more I lose. That was true with WWs, that was true with South Beach, that is true with VSG. My body likes the fluids, unfortunately, my new sleeve doesn't. It's really hot where I live, I exercise every day and I need the fluids but I can't get them in yet.

If you are thirsty, that is your body telling you that you are already dehydrated. Personally, I like to stay ahead of the game. Being hydrated also means better skin elasticity, and that's something I really need.

Water poisoning is unlikely to occur in most adults unless they are consuming about 2 gallons an hour. I can't even get one gallon in in a day! :)

If less fluids work for you, that's great! I wish I was in your shoes, but I need the fluids and it's a constant struggle for me. UGH!

I guess you can rationalize your decision to be noncompliant anyway you want. Sleeve or no sleeve 64 oz of Fluid a day is recommended to keep you body healthy. It moisturizes your skin, helps your kidneys flush away waste, helps your GI system digest and excrete ( lessens your chance for constipation), helps keep your mucous membranes moist....on and on and on. Good luck.

I suppose everyone has to do what works for them. I do agree with LipstickLady that if you're getting thirsty, it means you are already dehydrated. I know for me Water and/or fluids keep my skin looking great. My skin is noticeably worse when I don't get all of my fluids in. Also, I'd like to think that any toxins would be flushed out if I drink enough fluids.

If you google the statistics on being dehydrated, the percent of people who are already dehydrated is amazingly high. So that being said...........

64 Ounces of Water is nothing, now remember within that 64 ounces of Water, includes the fluids from Protein drinks, popsicles, etc.

But the water is also helping the healing process of your stomach. It will wash away any type of particulate that is adhering to your stomach. Some of these particiulates are good and some of them are not.

Also, the water consumption flushes out your organs and rids them of their accumulations prior to surgery.

I follow the dr's orders..........I am not a doctor

I said 'water' not fluids. Eating watermelon will put some fluids in my body, for example.

I realize that Water poisoning can ocur after drinking 91 ounces or more of water in one day.

But what I'm saying is that ... well, I guess I'm tired  of all the pressure of all the rules we have to follow to be sucessful in this journey.

I'm following too many rules already... keeping track of all those ounces of water is just the tip of the iceberg. so I call it BS.

I am glad you are being successful at weight loss. I do have to agree with the above posters, 64 is not going to give you Water poisoning.

I have always struggled to get in the recommended 64 oz of fluids daily...I told my doc I am getting probably 40-48 oz on days I don't workout and he was totally fine with that (even said that is what he prob gets on a daily basis.)

While I disagree with your assertion that Water intoxication would happen by consuming 80 oz of fluids throughout the day...and I also think we aren't always as good as we think we are at deciphering the messages our body sends us...I thought this article elucidated some of the points you were making about whether there is "hard science" to support the rule we've all come to know about how much liquids we should be getting a day.

Pre-op I drank over 120 oz of Water a day. I can now barely get in my 64 oz. I've never had Water poisoning and my skin pre-op was flawless. Post-op I'm getting back there.

It is tough but I find my body moves and feels better when I'm hydrated. I miss my water being higher so I'm working toward getting back there.

I'm not going to shoot you....

But I'm calling bs on your bs :D

Your thirsty? Your dehydrated all ready...

Water poisoning? Girl I've read about it, have you?? Because we are not guzzling 90 oz at once I think we are safe.. As a matter of fact people should drink AT LEAST 64oz a day, if it killed them, there would be a whole lot of dead people walking around. :D

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
