How much time off?

Recommended Posts

I work as a nanny and I'm wondering if stay at home moms with toddlers can tell me how long after surgery before you were able to take care of kids or other nannies can tell me how long they took off? The baby will be 2 when I get sleeved and the only problem I foresee is getting him in and out of crib for naps. He can climb into stroller and car seat, so no lifting there. But, I just want to schedule enough time off to allow for proper healing. I know every person is different, just looking for an estimate. Thanks!

I took 4 weeks off because I have a traveling job and couldn't lift my suitcase. I would imagine you will be advised not to lift a 2 year old.

Good luck on your journey. It's going to be amazing!

I was told no lifting more then 5 pounds the first week, 10 pounds the second week and increase by 5 pounds each week there after. I'm sure that's not good news, but you don't want to wind up with a hernia. Take the time you need.

My surgeon took me off work for 6 weeks, not due to lifting, but I was told no more than 10 lbs for at least 6 weeks.. My commute is an hour and 15 min without traffic and the risk of blood clots is too high...especially since traffic in LA is always present and many times my commute is 2 hours. Each way.

I was told to not lift more than 10 lbs for at least 4 weeks. A busy/moving/wiggly toddler, I'd imagine feels many pounds more than they actually weigh.

Consider starting to train him to climb in and out of the crib with maybe a step stool. I did that with my twins being that it was 2 of them and combined they were HEAVY (that was pre-op). One word of advice...don't forget and leave the step stool in there...oh the stories I could tell being sleep deprived and forgetting that stool.

Great advice!! Funny thing is I did put a step stool in there this week to practice...went well but I totally forgot to move it!!! Oops! Thank God he didn't try and climb back out! I was lucky :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
