Dinner and pain

Recommended Posts

I am in soft stage and had scrambled egg for dinner. I didn't even finish 1 egg so I am not sure what happened but now I feel like I have an elephant sitting on my chest and its hurting so bad. Maybe I ate to fast and it's having to digest??? I just hope I haven't hurt anything, ugh...

Sounds like it was too much egg. When I was in soft stage I could only eat half an egg. If you slow down your eating, it will be easier to tell when you are getting full. I'm sure you didn't hurt yourself, but it sure can make you miserable to the point of throwing up. Good luck.

I experienced this same exact thing. I was so flipping excited I ate half the egg rather quickly by using the size of bite that got me to 300lbs! Within a few minutes was hurting. My throat felt like it was collapsing. It was a burning. I couldn't swallow, I felt nauseous and even started sweating. So I took a drink of Water to wash it down... And it got worse for a few seconds then let up! The next morning I was taking my Multi-Vitamin with water and got the same feeling... This time I was driving my son to daycare. And I gagged a few times like I was going to throw up... So I pulled over and got out and circled my car a few times and I was fine. Everyone advised me when I posted about my egg experience to walk walk walk.. I guess it helps move the food down. Since then I have been able to eat a whole egg over a 30 min time period with no problem. I just take very small bites and chew it really really well.

Thanks- I just panicked. I don't think I ate more then 1/2 an egg. It tasted great but I have to learn to slow it down..

eggs seem to have a problem settling in a new sleeve. If you ate it fast you will definitely have some discomfort as well. Wait a few days and try again it will probably be much better! :)

Thank you, thank you to everyone on this thread! I was so scared this morning until I read this! I ate a 1/2 an egg and it feels like I'm going to throw up! It hurts so badly! I'm waiting for it to pass right now.... I forgot the whole "chew till its liquid in your mouth" and ate like the old 315 pound me.....

I'm still on full liquids for 11 days. I'm almost afraid to start eating real food. I can't imagine anything being easier then a soft scrambled egg. I guess you really have to watch your bites and timing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
