nursehr80 18 Posted August 13, 2013 I am 9 weeks out and have no signs of thinning or Hair loss. My hair seems to actually be stronger than normal. My surgeon said to expect it to start either last week or this one - and nothing. Did anyone not experience hair loss the first 3 mos?
cindymg 629 Posted August 13, 2013 I am 3 months out and no Hair loss. Others warn that it starts at 3 1/2 months. We'll see.
TES 858 Posted August 13, 2013 Many people say the Hair loss starts at about 4 months. Mine started at 3.5 months. I'm now about 6 months and 1 week post op and the hair loss has slowed significantly even though I'm still losing weight. I would say I'm at a normal pre-op rate. I am using L'Oreal strengthening Shampoo advertised by Jennifer Lopez. I was using the prescription Nioxin and it wasn't doing much and I thought what the heck. Jenny12 361 Posted August 14, 2013 My Hair loss started at about 3.5 to 4 months, but I noticed it started to slow down at 6 months. Now that I am 7 months out, I think the hair I am losing is a normal amount of hair any other normal person would lose. no bald spots, nothing like that. It's scary while it's happening because you don't know how long it will last. But mine stopped at the perfect time. I still have thick hair.

lizv123 389 Posted August 14, 2013 I was sleeved at the end of November and have had no Hair loss until the last month and that's entirely the fault of a new medication I'm on. But I also got in all of/if not more than my daily Protein requirements, took very good care of my scalp and hair before and after surgery. There's a chance you won't lose any at all, but if you do, fear not! It will grow back. They say it tends to start thinning around months 3-
