Has anyone not had hair loss?

Recommended Posts

I am 9 weeks out and have no signs of thinning or Hair loss. My hair seems to actually be stronger than normal. My surgeon said to expect it to start either last week or this one - and nothing. Did anyone not experience hair loss the first 3 mos?

I am 3 months out and no Hair loss. Others warn that it starts at 3 1/2 months. We'll see.

Many people say the Hair loss starts at about 4 months. Mine started at 3.5 months. I'm now about 6 months and 1 week post op and the hair loss has slowed significantly even though I'm still losing weight. I would say I'm at a normal pre-op rate. I am using L'Oreal strengthening Shampoo advertised by Jennifer Lopez. I was using the prescription Nioxin and it wasn't doing much and I thought what the heck.

My Hair loss started at about 3.5 to 4 months, but I noticed it started to slow down at 6 months. Now that I am 7 months out, I think the hair I am losing is a normal amount of hair any other normal person would lose. :) no bald spots, nothing like that. It's scary while it's happening because you don't know how long it will last. But mine stopped at the perfect time. I still have thick hair. :D

I was sleeved at the end of November and have had no Hair loss until the last month and that's entirely the fault of a new medication I'm on. But I also got in all of/if not more than my daily Protein requirements, took very good care of my scalp and hair before and after surgery. There's a chance you won't lose any at all, but if you do, fear not! It will grow back. They say it tends to start thinning around months 3-5

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
