marfar7 1,533 Posted August 12, 2013 So this morning I woke up at 6 am naseuous (1st time since surgery I had to take Zofran. Didn't work. Felt like I would vomit if I took 1 more sip of my 4oz Protein Shake. Felt nauseous all day. By 7 o'clock, I realized that Id only had 3oz of Protein shake, couple sips of ice tea and maybe 6 spoosfuls of tomatoe Soup. Any more than that and I would've vomited. And Im so scared of vomiting and ripping my staple line. I started sipping Powerade 0 and within a ualf hour, I felt so much better. Just finished anotehr 4 oz of protein shake. I will NEVER go for very long without drinking elecrolytes ever again. Its a viscious cycle. You can't drink anythng for fear I may vomite. However, if I don't drink, it'll make me more nauseous. When does the fear of vomiting a ripping my staple line cease? Im 4 wks out
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted August 12, 2013 At 6 weeks the risk reduces substantially. At 6 months, the risk is almost entirely gone. Try your best to stay hydrated and to sip those electrolytes. I hope you feel better soon.
FRED1977 186 Posted August 12, 2013 Wow this surgery is so different for everyone, I know you must have felt so scared when this happens. I was so paranoid about returning to work because I was in so much pain but I'm 3 weeks out and I'm like I don't want this surgery to be a crutch to stop me from doing anything . But when it comes to nausea and vomiting its really scary not knowing whats really going inside our extremely small sleeves. I hope you get to feeling better and stay hydrated. I find myself not wanting to drink and even take meds because of the dizzy and nausea.
JenniKay 2 Posted August 12, 2013 I could hardly move 2 days ago. I called my husband at work and asked him to please try to come home as soon as possible to help take care of our 3 children. I had become pretty dehydrated. I used a spoon and ate a Powerade slush slowly. I literally laid down all evening raising up to sip more. After the powerade I began to feel better. I have sipped Gatorade or powerade all weekend. It's finally much better. I will be very careful from now on! Terrible feeling. I hope you are better!!
