Is it normal that I'm 2 weeks post op and still on a stage 2 diet but I've actually gained 3 pounds?

Yes, it's called the 3-week stall but it happened to me at 2 weeks also. Your body just went thru so much and it's adjusting. Just keep drinking Water and getting in your Protein and walking whenever you can--your body will catch up!

I too had the surgery recently (2 weeks ago), and almost everyday I lost a pound or two. The past 3 days, nothing, and I was feeling discouraged. I'm glad you asked this question, and good to know others are going through the same.

So glad I read this. I am in week 2 post-op and have hit a small stall. Lost 1 or 2 pounds a day the first week and then suddenly it is by the ounces...not gaining but staying steady. I feel I am not getting in enough calories but I am literally not hungry at all and find I struggle between what's more important Water in or Protein in.

Hi! Yes, I went through the same thing... And I am still going through it. I am three weeks out and still in a stall. I was told that it is very normal in the beginning to stall early on as your body is still healing. It is more important to get in your Protein at this point. I still struggle to get in enough Water but My Nutritionist said to make sure to get in my protein above anything else... Then water. I'm currently only getting in 30-35 ounces of water, but I'm trying! Good luck! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
