quick easy grab n go?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a go to quick food? Something maybe frozen and heated in the microwave? When my family eats something I can't, I wish I had a frozen go to food. Any suggestions?

I keep some taco or fajita meat frozen in the freezer.. On nights when I make something for my boyfriend that doesn't fit into my present eating plan, I simply pull out 3 ounces of ready made meat, dice some avocado, lettuce, Tomato, etc and fix it in a thin corn tortilla. I LOVE that this meal totally tastes like "junk food" to me but is actually quite healthy an high in Protein. An since I make everything from scratch I know exactly what's in it.

I like these ideas! I did make the egg muffins...with egg, cheese, mushrooms, and seasoning. I freeze them for Breakfast. I can't have corn for 6 months! I wondered about low carb tortillas or ones made with cauliflower. I need to ask my nut. I havent had any bread type items yet and it will be anither 6 months before I'm allowed...unless I can lose my weight before then. I'm 1/3 the way there!

My saving grace has always been Boards Head turkey pepperoni (70 cals per serving, 10 grams Protein I think) and the Sargento reduced fat Colby jack cheese. Also 70 calories and maybe 7 grams protein. I wrap the pepperoni around the cheese and eat it that way. So yummy. I actually eat it for lunch a lot.

I keep frozen turkey meatballs in the freezer, 30 seconds in the microwave, and I eat two of them. Scrambled eggs are quick and easy to cook, just a minute or two. Other go to's for me are a slice of deli turkey rolled up in a romaine lettuce leaf with some whipped cream cheese, cottage cheese, taco Soup (I make a big batch and freeze in small containers).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
