wannabaloser 59 Posted August 10, 2013 I am setting here in Tijuana Mexico scared to death. What is wrong with me that I can't lose weight on my own? This seems just crazy! I cannot believe it has come to the point of me flying (my biggest fear in life) to another country and letting them cut my stomach out (needles are my 2nd fear). Why can I not just do this on my own? This is honestly the scariest thing I have ever done. On the other hand everything has gone great so far. Our plane was early, our driver was there waiting, he pointed out sites in San Diego snd Tijuana, and the hotel is great. The only thing I would change is I wish I had taken a later flight. I landed at 10am, got to the hotel around 11, but check in time wasn't until 3. They were able to get us in a room a little after 1 though. Of course the worst part was the only thing to do during that time was to go to the restaurant. My daughter enjoyed it while I starved and 2nd guessed myself. Anyways, does this feeling of wanting to run home go away?

butterfly_gal 151 Posted August 10, 2013 It's normal to feel scared. I sure as he'll did. I remember walking into the hospital 5 months ago and feeling so scared I felt like I was going to hyperventilate. At that point I remembered why I am doing this. It is to better your health! You will be fine good luck and I'll be thinking of you!

jjclisa 3 Posted August 10, 2013 I felt the same way. I flew to Tijauna from texas by myself and am scared to death to fly just like you. I was questioning myself right up until they pushed me into the operating room. My surgery was 7/24/13. The first post op day was horrible and i was really wondering what i had gotten myself into but the 2nd day was 100% better and its been better everyday since. I had my lap band taken out and a sleeve done before i gained all my weight back. I started out 198 and i'm 185 today. The sleeve feels so much better than the band. So happy i had it done. It will be just fine.

I think being in a new exciting place makes people want to get up and out sooner. Me? I was a bed slug afterwards
ElaineB 207 Posted August 10, 2013 I had a lot of the same thoughts. I even thought, well, I've lost a few on this pre-op thing, why don't I just keep doing this? What if It doesn't go well, what if I die, what if I regret it, what if I can never eat again? You know. I'm only 17 days out. I've lost 15 pounds since surgery. It's already so much easier and I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner. It's my one regret. It has already changed my life in some really positive ways. I feel strong, determined and like I have made some hard, but good decisions for myself for a change. You are worth this and I don't think you will be sorry. Keep me posted. Love and prayers for a safe surgery and quick recovery. It's no picnic, but it sounds like you have a child. If you can birth a human, this is nothin;) 3 BelindaK, mimimcd and Madam Reverie reacted to this
wannabaloser 59 Posted August 10, 2013 Elaine, Haha, LMBO. I have 3 kids. One was born in the hospital ER without a drop of pain meds before or after so it has to be easier than that. I started planning this in February and was originally scheduled in March but got really sick. So I have read EVERYTHING about this surgery. I thought I was 101% ready and sure but I guess everyone starts second guessing themselves at this point.
