Good for you, did they give you anything to take for your nausea? I took stuff religiously even if I didn't feel nauseous.

I came home tues and today I feel really good, but my energy levels are not great, I am going to walk outside for fresh air today, hope you are well

I suggest a heating pad on warm to assist with gas pain as well as the old standby walking. I was sleeved Monday, came home Tuesday and went for short walks twice yesterday. I'm a bit more tired today than yesterday but figure that is normal surgery recovery - 3 steps forward; 1 step back. ;D

I was sleeved Tuesday and came home yesterday. Battled nausea quite a bit, and still do on and off. "Real" food sounds and smells so good to me, and broth makes me want to gag. I can really only tolerate Decaf tea with a little honey, and plain ice Water. Anyone else feeling like this?

Came home on Tuesday. Doctor requires clear liquid through today, than I move on to full liquid tomorrow. I've been focusing on getting fluids in. Doctor counts Jello as clear liquid, so that has giving me something of substance. Can't stomach chicken broth, even homemade. Not too much pain; very surprised to be walking around so much considering 80% of my stomach is gone. I'm feeling very weak today, especially since I've been fairly active. Looking forward to starting Protein Shakes tomorrow so I can get some calories in the system. Thus far, would not change a thing.

I had my VSG on Wednesday the 7th, came home Thurs. Feeling very sore, but able to walk around (no pain meds for this chick!). I am on an all clear liquid diet until Aug 15 (hopefully no longer than that!) when I see the doctor. No problems keeping anything down; no nausea etc.. The problem I am having is that I'm feeling hungry for something a little more substantial for some reason. Any suggestions out there?

I was sleeved 8/6 and I am still in the hospital. Liquids are not passing through as they should. Doc thinks its due to a lot of swelling from the medical equipment used in the throat area. I am very concerned and afraid. I feel terrible. Any advice?

My first night home, my husband had bacon hot dogs with mac & cheese and even tho my stomach didn't want it, my mouth sure as heck did! I salivated like Pavlov's dog. :D

Lukewarm Water and G2 go down easiest for me. The Protein Shakes I have "froth" when I mix them and I DO NOT need any extra air in my tummy! I'm not doing pain meds and I'm sore. Haven't had a BM since the morning of surgery. Wondering when I should break out the MOM.

. So sorry you feel badly. The swelling will eventually go down and in the hospital you will get IV fluids to stay hydrated. Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
