I stayed in the hospital gowns so only things I used were my soft pillow, iPad, iPhone and chargers, Chapstick, gas-x strips/chewables, regular meds, loose clothing with loose bra, slip on shoes to walk in, chicken Soup powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. Thnx.. chicken Soup? ?

It's a Protein powder from unjury that tastes like chicken soup and you can drink it warm (not hot, otherwise it curdles). Our liquid post op diet only allowed us clear-dissolving Protein powders and that happens to be one of them. Like many others, we find the warm Soups sometimes go down easier than cold Protein shakes, so it'd a good add.

Well thankyou i mean my package says all meals are included is it just somethin good to hve for replacement? I know i will be in a hotel for one day too, i think im only gonna take an extra comfortable change of clothes in addition to what i will be wearing , also im sposed to bring cash for medications that will be given to me before i leave, but i will definately take something for gas since i see that is a painful issue for alot of people but what other meds would you say?

A heating pad was essential for my recovery! Bring one with you, I did. It really helped with the gas and my back was more soar after than my stomach. It stayed on my back/shoulders for the first 2 days

It's good to have for the flight back but you may not be able to drink too much at that point. As to other meds, really only whatever meds you take daily. The hospital should take care of all else I should think, except the gas-x.

I tried to keep my items to a minimum. Shampoo? I sucked it up an used what they had at the hospital/hotel... Slippers? pfft, I just wore clogs for my rounds at the hospital.. Pajamas? Wore the hospital gown and at the hotel I just wore a t-shirt. Pretty much I packed one extra bra.. enough undies and socks for all the days two pair of sweat pants and two t shirts. I wore the same clothes on the plane both ways. I'm really glad I packed some of my favorite herbal teas. The warm tea felt sooooooo nice on my new tummy. I just heated the Water in the hotel room coffee maker. I also packed gauze bandages, bandaids, antibiotic ointment and peroxide.. It was a waste.. My incisions healed so fast that I was discharged from the hospital without any coverings except on the incision where my drain was and with instructions to just wear a clean shirt every day and wash with soap in the shower and pat dry. The only thing I used from my "medical kit" was a bandaid to cover my one incision that still needed covering. I am glad I had the gasx strips though.. They don't help with the gas you feel in your back and shoulders from surgery but they definitely help calm down the tummy if it starts feeling a bit gassy in the early days. And remember, it's ok if you forget something, you can just buy it down there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
