I can't sleep tonight. This whole process has drained me, to the point of exhaustion. Not one aspect if trying to get this surgery has gone easy. It took a month for my insurance to approve it, and it's been hassle after hassle to get my preop testing done. In the meantime I'm feverishly trying to make my lifestyle more healthy, and with the stress of two full time jobs and school full time, it hasn't been easy at all. Not to mention, I got dumped in the beginning of this process and my ex already had their surgery and lost 30 lbs when I was the first to go to every doctor. I am soooo grateful for all that God has given me, and I have been blessed in many many ways, but I'm still really frustrated and just wish the end of this process was in sight. Going for my bloodwork in the

* in the morning, and am scheduling the ultrasound. Next week have the endoscopy consultation, and hope to God they can do this endoscopy in the next two weeks. I really hate venting, but it helps, and I'm not eating about it.

Keep your chin up hun.. I know that it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes.. but it's there.. Some people go through life having everything handed to them and don't really know the true mean of most anything.. you however are working very hard to get to where you want to go. You will get there.. soon enough. As for your ex.. show them that you can do it better.. ;)

Take Care..

I am a firm believer that things happen when they are supposed to happen. I had a rough time getting approved by insurance, and then had to plan my surgery around my co-workers vacations. Instead of late March or early April, my surgery was on May 23rd! I understand the desire to move things forward once you have committed to do the surgery. Now that I am 9 weeks post surgery, all is fine and I am meeting my personal goals, the rush and urgency seem unwarranted. Hang in there and everything will fall into place in the appropriate time, and you will understand someday why these trials and tribulations have been put in your path. In the end you will be stronger and better for having survived the challenges!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
