Is there A way to tone up without having surgery to get the extra skin removed

Recommended Posts

I was wonder if anybody lost the weight and didn't have to get the extra skin removed with surgery? If so what did you do and how often?

Ive been wondering that too....I'm hoping my skin will just 'bounce back' but lets be real here, thats probably not going to happen. If you don't mind me asking, how are you doing with you extra skin?

I'm still pre op for the next 13 days but already trying to figure out what to do since i know cosmetic surgery is out of the question.

Here are 2 threads you might check out and see the results of losing over 100lbs. You might also send them a private message asking about loose skin.

Do a forum search for "selfie" without the quotes to find more threads like these.

You can also check out the Anti-Jared. This guy lost 225lbs and you can see how his skin holds up.

Now if my gut will only look like that when I reach my goal! I would be so happy.

The Antijared has some loose skin there but nothing too awful. He's done well.

But frankly, there isn't much you can do. Take care of your skin, keep it healthy and hydrated.....yeah, that might help a little, but it's no guarantee. How much weight you have to lose, age, genetics....they are the contributing factors and you can't control those things. And resistance training....well, if you build muscle to replace the fat, that will help fill out the space vacated by fat loss, but no one is ever going to be able to build enough muscle to replace all of the lost fat. That's just a fact. So again, it just depends on the elasticity of the individual.

And not to burst bubbles, but you can do toning exercises till the cows come home....your muscles will thank you, but it doesn't affect your skin. Skin cannot be made to shrink by working the muscles underneath. And someone can say they did X bicep curls and didn't get bat wings....but that doesn't mean the curls had anything to do with it.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but just trying to keep it real. Be healthy, lose the weight, live a long life...the skin is an annoyance, but it's better than the fat.

Someone suggested shape wear to me and said she and a friend are doing great with them.

There's also shape wear for men. It's supposed to mold the body with compression.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
