Eating restrictions

Recommended Posts

I am 1 week post op and was able to start my full liquids today. I was told I wouldn't be able to finish a container of yougurt or pudding but i was able to just fine. I don't know if some people can just eat more than others or if I should be concerned. It was also basically the only thing I've had today because I left my Water at home and had an early drs appt...so maybe I was a little extra hungry??? Anyway I'm just curious ..otherwise I'm loving this new look on life!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. When you start your dense Protein you will really be able to feel the difference with restriction.

You are still in full liquids which means that for the most part, that yogurt and pudding will go right through the sleeve. This, unlike real food that has to digest more, will move right along! I have been on full liquids for a week. And I had my first problem with "too much" yesterday. I had panera's potato and cheddar Soup (strained). I was taking small bites and sipping away thinking it would pass like the brothy soup... NOT. I was so full and felt awful until I finally used the bathroom. But as for yogurt, I can eat 6 oz no problem... because its liquid. I go on go soft/moist tomorrow. I've already got my smashed boiled egg ready for breakfast! Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
