Hi all: sleeved on 7.29.13 and still on liquids. I was feeling really horrible and having a hell of a time getting my liquida and Protein in. Finally it hit me how much artificial sweetener i was consuming!i made the switch from vitaman Water zero to unsweetened iced tea and feel like a whole new person. I also cannot stand all of the sweetness any longer. Anybody else?

i think it is two fold. The surgery sometimes affects the sweet factor, but also just decreasing the amount of sweetness affects the sweet factor.

I think eliminating anything artificial is always in a good direction.

I usually avoid the artificials but i gave in in favor of the Protein and nutrients.

I drank the chocolate premier (which I thought was less sweet than a lot of other Protein drinks) but I was getting tired of them until I started adding a Tablespoon of Instant Decaf coffee to them...WOW...I actually enjoy drinking them now :) I am out 8 weeks or so and still drink one everyday just to be sure I get enough protein!

You are my hero! I never even thought to do that. The bitterness would certainly reduce that sweetness!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
