Get a lawyer even if your plan doesnt cover wls at all they cannot offer treatment for other things & not for obesity.

The local bariatric center said they always recommend a lawyer before self pay because that way your follow up is covered. If you have complications then they'll cover it.

A few hundred for a lawyer is much cheaper than thousands for self pay.

My surgery was in Boca Raton with Dr. Shillingford he is all inclusive with 2 days in the hospital and he charges $10,500. Fantastic surgeon!! Good luck on your search!! :)

I am doing self pay. I hit my 401k. If you have a 401k you can borrow against it for medial expenses that insurance doesn't cover.

I know you say Mexico is not an option. But there are two girls in our dept that went and had a great experience. I myself am headed over the border 9/2. Complications can occur whether you have surgery in the states or in another country. My friend ended up with a complication from one of the best surgeons in our area. Yet the two that went to Mexico had no problems. But I understand not wanting to be far from your doctor. When I started this adventure my husband being the guy that is my rock reminded me that thousands of people go to other countries all the time to get surgery done.

Good luck! I hope you can find the answer!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
