Port is twisted

Recommended Posts

My port is completely flipped! I went in for my first fill on 6/7/11 and my doctor could not do the fill so he sent me to do my fill under flouro, and thats when it was discovered that my port had flipped! I was so upset. He said that he would do the port revision and that it was a 15 minute procedure, so I'm hoping it will be quick and painless. Im scheduled for 7/7/11

I also had a flipped port. My stitches had broken loose and caused my port flip completely over. I had revision surgery, which was a bit less invasive that the orignal band placement surgery. But it was stil under general anesthesia and took about 45 mintues in all. Everything was billed to my insurance, but since I'd already met my deductible for the year with my original surgery, I did not have to pay anything out of pocket. I really thought I should not have been charged. But I guess the hospital didn't agree with that!

Good Luck to you! It really isn't that big of a deal, but there is a few days of recovery involved.

On July 18th I had my surgery to fix my flipped port. They said the stitches just pulled loose from the muscle. This Wednesday I will finally have my first fill. Praying that everything is in place now. It has been four months since my orginal surgery and I feel fortunate to have lost 52 pounds with basically no restriction yet.

My doctor and the hospital covered my entire cost for the flipped port.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
