gamergirl 4,610 Posted August 8, 2013 How many times have you lost it before and re-gained it along with several of its friends?
TwinsMama 483 Posted August 8, 2013 Many of us go through this. We think, okay it's really not that hard to lose. But over time we have all found ourselves here. Meet with the surgeon, ask your questions, and then make your decision. Whatever route you choose, trust that you know yourself and be confident in it. 2 ProudGrammy and Dannipo reacted to this
HoosierGirl 780 Posted August 8, 2013 If you can keep your mind together in the pre-op phases, you are on your way to success! I was all over the place mentally before surgery. Figured if I could have lost the weight on my own in my many attempts over the past 20 years, I probably would not need surgery. My advice is to stay out of your own head - it can be a dangerous place to be! Hugs and good luck! 4 TwinsMama, Dannipo, nervousnelly and 1 other reacted to this
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted August 8, 2013 We do all go through this. For me, it took a long time before I was ready to committ to the surgery. I think it was a year from my initial consult (to be revised from my failed band) until i finally had surgery. What finally pushed me is my insurance was changing to a plan that wouldn't cover the sleeve so I had it done in Dec 2011 - last minute before that happened! AT times, in hindsight I regretted waiting, like I could have started my normal weight life so much sooner, but, I also think that stressing and thinking and mind changing was also part of the journey I needed to go through. I needed to try EVERYTHING else one last time. By the time i was sleeved, I was so sure that i needed this surgery and i think that helped me get through some rough days. In the end though, this has been the best thing I have done for myself. I am one of the (majority) of people that love my sleeve and the control it helps me maintain over my weight! 1 Dannipo reacted to this
gypsyjolie 38 Posted August 8, 2013 Sorry you're going through the emotions! Most of us went through the freak out too. I was scared because it was my first surgery ever... And somehow I got it in my head that surgery meant I was a failure. I got my head back in place about it being a tool that I could use and not a sign of failure and I haven't looked back. The first few weeks are tough and you'll be tired and emotional as you adjust your relationship with food and start to lose weight but it is the best tool for those of us that just could not lose the weight. You have to do it for your own reasons but I have not regretted the decision once I got past the initial healing. It's amazing to feed that I am in charge if myself finally! And I love how it feels to be losing weight (since you really have no other option). I hope you can find some calm. Good luck!
