My nut just told

Me the other day I should be trying to get 1000 calories a day and the days I work out to add at least 200 more calories! Eating so little

And exercise will make out bodies think there starving and hold onto everything we eat! I did that and lost 3 lbs yesterday! Good luck girl!

I think 3-5 pounds a week is on the high end. My doc says expect 1-2 pounds/week, and that's on the low end. I'm averaging about 10piubds a month (is all), and I'm ok with that. Just keep at it and you'll lose what you need to. It just takes time.

Btw it looks like you're averaging 15 pounds/month. That's awesome!

Gmanbat I appreciated ur post as I too have been finding myself impatient. My surgery was on 4/4/13 starting weight was 270 currently 222. So almost 50 lbs down still not seeing a huge transformation like I've seen on here tho and I find I guestion myself I needed to be reminded that my body has its own timeline. I do a minimal amt of strength training and walking on treadmill. Gradually increasing as I can. (Stupid knees) I need to remember that I've never been able to lose more than 20 lbs previously Soooo I am doing ok.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
