Very normal to be apprehensive, scared, excited. You have done your research and you know this is going to lead you to a healthy future. Believe in your surgeon and team and start your ride!!! Good luck!!

I felt the same way. In fact, I felt like it wasn't going to work, I was gonna die before it happened or something with insurance was going to fall thru last minute. But here I am, 3 mos out and 52 lbs down :) What you're feeling is normal. You won't regret it!! Good luck :)

You will do great. There is no free ride but it really isn't bad. Wait till you are walking, feeling lighter and putting on smaller clothes. It is great. Remember you are going to be fine!!!!

You will feel better once you get the cocktail at the hospital before surgery.

I really wanted one for the road before I left but was told no.

Some bs about laws and ethics and whatever... I dunno I stopped listening.

It is totally normal to feel scared, apprehensive, freaked the flip out, sad, excited, and any and every other emotion you can think of. But just think about why you are doing this and how much your life is going to improve.

And if that doesn't help drink some vodka.

What? It's a clear liquid.

:-P

I'm scheduled for this a.m. too. Was very nervous/anxious last night. Really was considering canceling but after talking to some folks here, I'm ok. I'm praying for you guys today. I am looking forward to the pre surg cocktail though :)

Hang in.... I was sleeved on 7-25. Felt awful for the first 4 days or so. Now.... It's a whole different story!!! I feel great. Down almost 20lbs, happy and beginning my journey toward a healthier and skinnier 'me'. Keep thinking about the future. There's lots of good stuff coming your way!! Best if luck : )

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
